Visible Firearm Detection (VFD)

The Visible Firearm Detection (VFD) feature triggers an event if a firearm is detected in the scene. VFD events will appear in the Event list in your Pelco Elevate account. See Subscriptions for instructions on adding and managing your product licenses.

VFD requires a license to use. See Subscriptions for instructions on how to activate product licenses.

All cameras on a multi-headed device are covered by the same license but can be enabled/disabled independently. Enabling all heads will only count once against use of a license.

Enabling Visible Firearm Detection

You can enable VFD on as many cameras, or camera heads, as you have VFD licenses.

  1. Select a camera from the camera list to open the Camera details page.

  2. Toggle the Visible Firearm Detection (VFD) button to the On position to turn on VFD.

To turn off VFD, toggle the Visible Firearm Detection (VFD) button to the Off position. This lets you apply the license to a different camera, or camera head.

You can verify that VFD is enabled on the camera by checking the Events page in the camera's web interface. See the relevant Pelco Operations Manual for more information on accessing the web interface.
